The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has revealed the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2022, showcasing an impressive achievement by women candidates. Today, on May 23rd, UPSC announced Ishita Kishor as the top scorer, securing the coveted All India Rank 1 in the UPSC CSE Result 2023. Garima Lohia and Uma Harthi N secured second and third positions, respectively.
This announcement signifies a significant milestone, as women candidates have clinched the top three positions for the second consecutive year in one of India’s most esteemed examinations. The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three stages – preliminary, main, and interview (personality test) – with the aim of selecting officers for prestigious positions such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other notable posts. Following a rigorous selection process, a total of 933 candidates have been recommended for appointment to these esteemed services.
Among the recommended candidates, 345 individuals belong to the general category, 99 hail from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 263 represent the Other Backward Classes (OBC), while 154 and 72 candidates belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), respectively. It is important to note that the candidature of 101 recommended candidates is provisional, as stated by the Commission.
