Redmi K50S Pro will be Xiaomi’s first 200-megapixel camera phone
Pubnews: Redmi K50S Pro will be Xiaomi’s first 200-megapixel camera phone. Earlier this year, Redmi unveiled its K50 series in the Chinese market. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition hit the Chinese market in February, followed by the standard Redmi K50 and K50 Pro handsets in March. Currently, it is rumored that the brand is planning to launch the Redmi K50S and K50S Pro devices in China as new additions to the series. Speculations were rife that the K50S Pro could debut as the company’s first device with a 200-megapixel camera sensor. Now, adding fuel to the fire of speculation, a report has surfaced, which indicates that the Redmi K50S Pro phone will feature a 200-megapixel camera.
Will Redmi K50S Pro be the company’s first 200 megapixel camera phone?
Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has shared the key specifications of an upcoming flagship phone on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, which will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 (mentioned as part number SM8475) chip. The tipster said the device will come with a 120Hz display, a 200-megapixel camera and a 5,000mAh battery. A look at the comment section of this post suggests that the tipster is not talking about the Moto X30 Pro phone, which could soon debut as the world’s first 200-megapixel camera phone. So the only other smartphone brand rumored to be launching a 200 megapixel camera phone soon is Xiaomi. So, he is believed to be talking about a Xiaomi flagship phone.
Incidentally, the recently launched Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra models came with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Hence, the company is no longer likely to launch SD+8G1 powered phones under the “Xiaomi” brand. Recent reports suggest that the Xiaomi 12T series will be launched in the global market with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip instead of the Xiaomi 12S series. And the 12T and 12T Pro models may be rebranded as Redmi K50S and Redmi K50S Pro in China.
Note that a report published last week revealed that the Xiaomi 12T Pro will have a 200-megapixel camera. This suggests that the Redmi K50S Pro, which is slated to launch in China, will also feature the same camera. The Redmi K50S Pro has already been approved by the China Compulsory Certification (3C) website. The devices included in the Redmi K50S series are likely to launch in China in August.
